The Aboitiz Group today announced it had submitted an unsolicited proposal to modernize four regional airports which included Laguindingan, Bacolod-Silay, Iloilo and the New Bohol International Airport (Panglao).
In a press release (LINK), the Aboitiz Group said the proposal is the company’s support to the government’s ‘Build, Build, Build’ program. The P148-billion project proposal intends to upgrade, expand, operate, and maintain the above-mentioned regional airports over a 35-year concession period.
It can be recalled that the said airports were included in the bundled regional airports modernization plan under the public-private partnership (PPP) program but was cancelled last year after the government decided to bid the projects individually using funds from the national budget.
