Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano has disclosed that four large companies have submitted unsolicited proposals for the one hectare lot presently occupied by the Provincial Jail and the Provincial Engineer’s Compound.
In a news report from SunStar CDO, Governor Emano however did not identify the companies pending the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) ordinance currently with the Provincial Council.
He said once the PPP ordinance is approved, then the companies can formally submit their proposals. Emano clarified the Capitol will only lease the property and not sell it. It was gathered that the Provincial Jail will be relocated to Initao and the Provincial Engineer’s Compound to Alubijid by midyear. Emano said any company showing interest of the prime lots will also have to construct the new provincial jail in Initao as the Capitol’s counter-proposal.
Built in the 1960s, both the Provincial Jail and Provincial Engineer’s Compound are now considered prime commercial areas located just across Centrio Ayala Mall in Cagayan de Oro City.
